Moinesti Jewish Cemetery (MJC) [1740-2012] |
Moinesti Cemetery is one of the oldest Jewish resting places
in Romania. Some of the old monuments can be traced back as from XVII-th
century, and are dated 1740. |
Moinesti
Jewish
Cemetery is situated on the main road of the Osoiu Hill, on the
right side of the road, close to the hill top.

BEFORE WWII THERE WERE 3 BIG

IMPORTANT NOTE:
for more than 5 years, from 1998 until
emigration to Israel, in December 1983,
Moises Enghelberg [Z'L] was the sole
caretaker of the MJC (Moinesti Jewish
Cemetery). He was passionately petitioning
and lobbying the Bacau Jewish Community,
Romanian Jewish Community, Rabbi Moses Rozen
and some members of the US Senate for funds
in order to save and preserve the MOINESTI
Jewish Cemetery. SOME CONSERVATION WORKS
WERE DONE WITH PRIVATE FUNDS OF MOISES
ENGHELBERG. NOW WE HAVE TO CONTINUE THIS
REMARKABLE WORK! |
